REFLECTION ONE

My Takeaway from Lesson One

The first session with PDY513: Educational Technology module was really an enthusiastic session because as a learner I got to learn the appropriate way of learning how to use technology to create an interactive learning environment for my students. This lesson on incorporating technology into teaching methodologies has been an eye-opener for me as an educator. I now deeply understand the significance of blending technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge, as emphasized by the TPACK framework. This framework highlights that for effective teaching and learning to occur, none of the three elements—content, pedagogy, or technology—can work in isolation. Instead, they must be perfectly aligned and integrated to create a seamless and impact educational experience.

  • One of my key takeaways is recognizing the power of technology in simplifying and enhancing student learning patterns. Technology not only facilitates the delivery of content but also supports diverse learning styles, fosters engagement, and provides innovative ways for learners to interact with the material.

By embracing the TPACK framework, I have realized that as educators, it is our responsibility to leverage technology thoughtfully, ensuring it complements the pedagogical approaches and content we deliver. This alignment creates a dynamic and inclusive environment, making learning more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all students.

Going forward, I am motivated to explore and adopt technological tools that align with my teaching objectives and to continue refining my methods to create a more enriching and student-centered learning experience.

With the help of near-pod, the students can access a teacher’s Live Participation presentation through a code, and the teacher then moves the class through the lesson and lets students interact with the media as they go. Teachers can also opt for Student-paced mode,  where the student controls the flow of the lesson. This mode is perfect for remote learning, hybrid learning, sub days, homework assignments, or independent work. The app is web-based and works on any device with an internet connection.
