SESSION TWO

On second day we learnt on the topic "Interactive and Engaging to promote Learning".

This session introduced us to two powerful tools, Slido and Blogger.com, both of which have significant potential to enhance teaching and learning.

Slido is a user-friendly Q&A and polling platform designed to make learning and teaching more effective, especially in advanced theoretical modules. It enables educators to crowdsource top questions, facilitate meaningful discussions, and engage students through live polls, fostering an interactive learning environment. By using Slido at the beginning of a class, educators can assess students’ prior knowledge and experiences, allowing lessons to be tailored to their needs. Additionally, Slido is an excellent tool for breaking up content-heavy lectures, maintaining student engagement, and ensuring that learning objectives are met. Its interactive features create a dynamic and student-centered classroom experience, making it an invaluable asset in modern education.

We also explored blogging through Blogger.com, which provides a platform for both educators and students to express their unique voices. Blogging encourages the development of writing and communication skills through regular practice and interaction. By commenting on posts and responding to feedback, students not only refine their writing but also practice thoughtful and courteous communication.

For students, blogging fosters a deeper understanding of academic writing, serving as a stepping stone for major projects like capstone papers. For educators, it has become a vital tool for professional development. Blogging allows us to share expertise, reflect on teaching practices, and connect with a wider audience. It encourages collaboration among educators, facilitating the exchange of ideas, methods, and innovations, ultimately contributing to a collective knowledge base.

Overall, both tools have reinforced the importance of integrating technology into education, offering dynamic, engaging, and effective ways to enhance the teaching and learning process.
